Did You know That Dark Chocolate is more Healthier than Fruits?

    While watching early the morning news, I was surprised when I heard about this. So I ended up consulting Mr. "Google" to find out if it is true. Well, according to some studies, it is a big YES! So, It is a goodbye feeling of guilt over eating lots of chocolates or reaching just one truffle after meals. 
     I love  dark chocolates, especially the pure 70% dark chocolate of Lindt , but I never knew that it is better than fruits. All I knew was dark chocolate is good for the heart, but I did not know that it has more antioxidants than fruits. 
According to some US experts and Scientists, Cacao seeds should be considered as a "Super Fruits" and products derived from cacao seeds extracts, such as natural cocoa powder and dark chocolate as "Super Foods".
    It all sounds too good to be true for chocolate lovers, but it doesn't mean we should slow down eating fruits or having fruits on our table. There are nutrients that we need from fruits that the dark chocolate doesn't have. It is still a matter of balancing our food or diet every day.
I suggest Eat a Healthy and Balanced Meal every day.

Simple Exercise at Home Without any Equipment

I was chatting with my online work mate Cai, while I was on my break time. She brought up the topic about exercise. She was saying she needed to lose weight as she is gaining so much weight now.  But her problem is, She can't leave her youngest daughter if she is going to jog or go to any fitness gym facility.

I know she is not alone with this problem. There are many " Work at Home Mothers (WAHM)", "Stay at Home Mothers (SAHM)" or "Full Time Mothers" that have the same concern. Being tied up with our house errands it is hard to budget our time, especially if the children go to school every day.

To burn off inches without spending money is easy, but it does require determination, everyday dedication and time management. Hmmm.. determination?? Yes, determination to lose weight ladies!

Here are some few suggestions from me:

- Warm up and stretch first before doing exercise at least 5 to 10 minutes, to get your blood and muscles flowing.

- Do jumping Jacks (laundry time) while the washing machine is or while meat is boiling when you are cooking.

- Push ups, while waiting for your kids returning from school.

- Jog in place while watching TV instead of sitting on the couch.

- Light Weight Lifting, no need to buy weights, a can of green peas would do or anything similar in your kitchen. You can also use water jugs, detergent bottles, liquid dishwashing bottles. Walk back and forth carrying one of these filled with water swinging your arms. If you have a second floor much better.

Do this 45 minutes every day and eat reasonable amounts of a balanced diet.

See the difference after 3 weeks.

Simple Java Rice

I am going to share with you today, is my simple version of Java Rice. Inspired by Chef Dino Ferrari of Del Monte Kitchenomics.
Java Rice has nothing to do with the place Java in Indonesia, weird? Oh no! I think that is normal like Cuban Rice and that has nothing to with Cuba. Isn't it funny? Well, the weird naming of foods just confuses us with regards to place of origin. 
Why Java Rice is color yellow? Because of the Ingredient Turmeric powder, some recipes are mixing with Anatto or Cayenne powder.
For my approach I used Del Monte Tomato Sauce Original style to make my simple Java Rice color yellow.  Not only for flavoring,  we all know that tomato is very rich in Vitamin C.
Del Monte Tomato Sauce original style claims to be 100% natural flavor to all our recipes. It is made with no artificial flavors and preservatives.

Here are the Ingredients:

3 cups of cooked rice

2 gloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, chopped

1 small carrot, diced

3 tbsp of green peas, cooked

3 tbsp of Del Monte Tomato Sauce original style

3 tbsp of Del Monte Whole Kernel corn

1 tbsp butter

1/2 tsp black pepper

Salt to taste

Pork Barbecue for toppings

Instructions:

For Pork Barbecue, I used only a few pounds of pork meat, soaked for only 10 to 20 minutes with 1 tbsp of Del Monte Tomato sauce, 2 tsp of soy sauce a dash of black pepper, then fry slowly until pork is well done. And set aside.

For Java Rice, the usual, heat the pan, put the butter and  sautee the onion, wait until golden brown and follow  garlic. Stir. Add the carrots, green peas and corn, stir for 2 minutes.

Then next is my secret, the Del Monte Tomato Sauce original style, again, stir slowly and follow the cooked rice, stir until the tomato sauce is evenly mixed. Add black pepper and salt to taste.

When serving top with pork barbecue. 

And you can pair Java Rice with Fried Chicken or Chicken Barbecue.

OMG Nail Polish

I can't wait to share with you what I have on my nails today.
I felt the impulsiveness flowing in my blood veins since last night when I purchased these OMG Nail Polishes. And you know what?? I tried them all ha ha ha. I was surprised with the result. Despite of being inexpensive it did a very good job on my fingernails, the first coat achieved my desired opacity and take note they dried quickly.

Pork Humba

Pork Humba

 
Pork Humba or Braised Pork originated from Cebu,  located in the Central Visayas Region of the Philippines.
There are many versions of Humba Recipe. But I do not have my own version, I usually follow what I have learned from different blogs and chefs and I always enjoy sampling the different versions.
I like the salty sweet tastes and the tenderness of the pork meat, I chose  pork belly on this recipe. You can use pork hocks,ham or pork chops in some recipes they are using pork trotters.

Ingredients:

500 grams Pork belly (chunks)
2 tsp brown sugar
3 tsp cooking oil
1 small pouch black beans (drained and washed) 

4 cloves garlic
3 tsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp peppercorn
3 pcs laurel leaves
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup vinegar
2  (115 g) pouches Del Monte Pineapple tidbits
1 (8 oz) pouch Del Monte Tomato Sauce

Instructions:
Heat the pot and cooking oil, (medium fire), sautee garlic until golden brown, then follow with the pork belly and brown sugar, give a little stir until sugar has caramelized and add the black beans or tausi. Cover and let it simmer for a few minutes until pork is slightly golden brown.
Add water, vinegar, soy sauce, peppercorn, laurel leaves and Del Monte tomato sauce. Let it simmer first before stirring. Cover the pot again and simmer for 30 minutes or until meat is tender with a minimum fire to avoid burning.
When serving top with Del Monte pineapple tidbits.
Now it is ready to serve.

 This is my first time using red nail polish, and I like the outcome. Actually, I wanted to have a heart design, but I changed my mind. There are 5 simple designs here:

1. On my thumb it is red with white dots. It is so easy, I didn't use any tools here except for a toothpick.
2. Is my Index finger, I call it minnie tiny black eyes. As you can see it is Red my base color and white tip with black dots.
3. Index finger, dotting the line? Or crossing the line? Whichever, anyway, Yes, the white dots are centered on line between black and red.
4. Ring Finger, this is the one that I like so much, white petals. It is so easy and simple, just make five dots for the petals and one silver dot in the middle of petals for the bud.
5. Pinky Finger, well, this was the simplest, only black and red.
These designs would match if you're going on a Valentine's Date this coming 14th of February.

Tips How to Take Good Care of your Nails

Everyone wants to have good looking and strong finger nails, especially the ladies out there. However, there are many women that have problems with their nails.
Here are some tips from me and ms Sara  of SaraBeautyCorner my favorite nail art Guru.

Personally, I am recommending wearing gloves in washing dishes.  Commercial dishwashing liquids have chemicals that are harmful to our skin and sometimes can cause skin cancer. Even if you are gardening gloves help protect our nails from breaking and reduce dryness.
Olive oil, I also believe is the best moisturizer. Just use a few drops onto the cuticles and around the nails then massage. Do it regularly, everyday or 3 to 4 times it is up to you, but for my hands and fingers I do it twice a day. This will keep your fingers and nails healthy and shiny.

But of course, do not forget that eating healthy foods is also the main factor of having a healthy body.

Nail Art using Cotton Ball

I don't particularly like wearing black nail polish except my nail art today requires having black, so, here I am wearing black nail polish. Not just a plain black, but black accented with white to leave the appearance of real snowflakes. After creating these glossy bright nails I am sure cotton balls can be used as tools for nail art. Before, I always wanted to have new nail art tools, every time I go downtown I never missed visiting the beauty shops to find out if there are new nail art tools in the market. Now, I think I better look around the house to explore things available that I can use as nail art tools.

What I did here first was the base coat, then the Bobbie Black nail polish. Next, get a piece of cotton ball, drop a small amount of white nail polish (SinfulColors Professional) onto a piece of paper

and  dab the polish first with the cotton ball and then gently touch nails creating your design.

Simple and easy!

Look around you, maybe there are items in your collections that you can use for your nail art.

Nail Art using Finger Tips

What a busy week! My nails have been in need of some pampering!
Ladies, this design doesn't need any nail art tools or expensive nail polishes, it is easy and quick. You can use any colors available in your Nail Art Box. Just your fingertips and you'll have an amazing design like what I have accomplished.
I am going to share what I have learned from one of my favorite nail art expert SarabeautyCorner.

I used different brands of nail polishes here.

SinfulColors Professional, Bobbie, Caronia for nail hardener and base coat and  Le Belle for the top coat.

Just drop the small amount of nail polish onto a piece of paper, using your finger tips touch the drops and gently rub it on your nails, until you are satisfied with the design.

My Do It Yourself  Pins and Paper Clips Organizer

Here is another suggestion to organize those pins and paper clips that are messing up your office or your children study table. 

Nowadays, many of the Environmentalists are pushing the " Free Plastic Community","No Plastic Environment" and many more. Honestly, we cannot eliminate using plastic in our lives. Let us accept the fact that we need some plastic.
It is only a matter of how you dispose those plastics that will affect our Mother Earth.
This time I am going to share with you how I utilize those disposable plastic food containers that have been sitting in our store room.

Materials needed:

Empty plastic food containers (any size)
Scissors
Scrap box

Instructions:

1. Wash the containers and dry them well
2. Tailor the scrap box to fit inside the container
3. Make at least 2 or 3 divisions.

My Do It Yourself

My Do It Yourself Pen Holder

As we begin 2014 the economy is getting worst. Not just in the Philippines, but around the globe. So, here is one suggestion or a tip to save money on something we all can use.
Instead of buying a new pen holder for your office or for your child study table, I want to share with you what I did. My Do It Yourself Pen Holder made of an empty Chips Container.

Materials Needed:
Empty Chips Container (I used Pringles empty container)
Pair of Scissors
Glue
Any scrap wrapping paper with nice decoration you like.
Cutter/Small saw or serrated kitchen knife.

Instructions:
1. Clean the container
2. Cut any desired length
3. Measure the wrapper
4. Wrap the container and glue it well.
5. Let the glue dry first

Now, I already did my part to take care our Mother Earth.

It seems like they are very professional in the packaging. At first I wasn't sure about the quality of this product. Actually, it was my husband who bought this from Walmart and like me he is also fond of  "SALE" he got these for only $0.99 each bottle.

Husband knows that I like nail polishes and I always look for a price that won't hurt my wallet. After trying " Cream Pink 152" and "Frenzy 922" (glitters in purple), I would say Sinful Colors Professional really proves that they are Professional. They can compete with any other expensive nail polishes out there in my opinion. They are incredibly worth the price, on sale or not.

Purple Glitters (Frenzy 922)

Pros: Opaque, quick dry, pretty colors, affordable, many colors to choose from, available at any Leading Department Stores like Walmart and Walgreen.

Glitters (Frenzy 922) are  very fine and not difficult to remove. I remember months ago I have used glitters  just for a try, but it took me awhile before I removed.

Cons: The brush is so thick I can’t use it for nail art. My suggestion is to be careful in using because the brush picks a lot. Be sure to wipe off the excess.
